Grief (as I Experience it) | Play It!
Game Designer
Undergrad Year 2

2018

Grief (as I experience it) is a conversation card game that facilitates conversations of loss.

  • Players select cards from decks named after the “stages of grief” like Pain & Guilt, Depression, Bargaining & Anger, etc.
  • Each card has two questions the player can answer aloud or to themselves.
  • Play continues until all players have selected and answered 4 cards.

Iterations of Grief (as I experience) Card Game

Grief has undergone a redesign in 2020 to clarify and consolidate the rules and change up the look of the cards.
We moved towards a cyanotype visual concept. My thinking being at times cyanotype can give an air of ghostly images and through it’s process shows us what is left of something we try to capture.
